Parks & Rec alum Aubrey Plaza has a huge LGBTQ fan club and she is proud of it! She recently called it the “ultimate compliment,” and explained why she thinks lesbian ladies are drawn to her.
“I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there’s something masculine about my energy. Girls are into me — that’s no secret. Hey, I’m into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it,” she told Advocate.com.
In addition to discussing her LGBTQ fans in her interview, Aubrey also dished on her inner older gay man, loving Judy Garland, a supposed rendition of Gypsy she’s planning with Megan Mullally, and most importantly, how she learned to embrace her inner oddball despite her conservative upbringing.
“Being in a very Irish Catholic, Republican area, my community theater taught me at an early age that it’s OK to stand out and let your freak flag fly. I felt it was important to inspire people to be their authentic selves by making a fool of myself and not caring what others thought. Even though I have my own insecurities, I’ve always had this mission of disrupting social norms.”
Aubrey has definitely disrupted the social norm all right, and we couldn’t love it more! Also, we totally need to see her and Megan’s version of Gypsy, obviously.
